First-time drinker? First-time drinker?
Your first drink is a momentous occasion that you will remember for the rest of your life. Here are a few tips to make your first bar experience successful.
Choose Wisely
Please do not feel pressured to drink because others are doing it. Start by choosing drinks with low ABV or alcohol-based volume. This is the percentage of alcohol (ethanol) in a certain volume of beverage. Cocktails are a great way to begin. Beginners tend to prefer tall, fizzy cocktails with a slight sweetness and syrups that mask the alcohol. Additions of juices or shaken drinks will also reduce the ABV. Be warned: sweeter cocktails can make you drink alcohol faster and lessen the perceived strength of alcohol. Alcohol will soon show its ugly side,” says Ajit Balgi.
Drink, then Eat
Take a moment to consider the contents of your stomach before you drink your first beverage. You’re already in trouble if there is nothing inside. “Alcohol is absorbed into your bloodstream via your stomach and small intestinal tract. Alcohol will enter the bloodstream faster if your stomach is empty before you begin drinking. Food slows down the flow of alcohol, allowing it to be broken down more slowly. Balgi advises not to drink when you are hungry. You should eat a protein-rich meal, as it takes longer to digest protein and therefore lowers your alcohol level. You can also eat nuts.
Take it slow and nurse it.
Do not feel compelled to drink more than you can handle just because others around you do. Do not drink more than what you are comfortable with. To avoid getting drunk, drink slowly throughout the night and be visible with your drink. Low-alcohol drinks are the best choice.
Don’t drink too fast.
You can avoid getting drunk by spreading out your drinks. You can also get more value for your money and enjoy your drink. “When drinking, follow the 2D rule (Diet + Dilute). Always dilute alcohol with juice or water. One unit of alcohol takes our bodies an hour to digest. Take your time and finish the unit. “Drinking water and eating before and during drinking sessions helps tremendously,” says Arjun Chaudhary. He is the founder and mixologist of Bar Street.
Learn to Say No
It can be difficult to resist peer pressure, and before you realize it, a couple of drinks could become too many. You don’t need to drink as much as your friends. Moderation is the key to drinking alcohol. For a healthy drink, you should limit yourself to 60 ml of spirit, 200ml of wine and 500ml of beer. If you’re having a bad night, it may be necessary to drink twice as much. “Anything more, and you’re laying the groundwork for a hangover,” says Balgi. Stop before the room begins spinning.
Stay Hydrated
Drink water after every drink, no matter what. Drinking alcohol dehydrates you, so drink water even if you are not thirsty.
How to Avoid Shootings Completely
Shots can be a lot to digest for first-timers. These shots are stronger than a beer or glass of wine. They should be avoided at all costs.
Eat before you sleep.
Foods high in fat and calories can reduce the absorption rate of alcohol. Don’t sleep immediately after a night out. Sit down and relax, drink water and go for a glass of chilled milk with a little bit of jaggery. The next morning, drink more water and have a chilled buttermilk glass,” recommends Chaudhary.
